Perhaps my brain is still mired in all the red wine from last night’s holiday party, but I’m having a hard time understanding this one. I like many of Chimeros messages – thanks APE for introducing him – but I might flip this pyramid with the ultimate goal to “Persuade” at da top. Particularly in my field of advertising photography …
@Andy Hagedon, The way I see it, your primary objective, when working with advertising, should be to persuade the viewer, to buy the product. Your secondary goal should be to inform, and lastly you should try to delight.
If you do it the other way around, you will fail your client, who hired you to sell their product.
@Andreas Jensen, I think we are saying the same thing: “the ultimate goal to persuade ….” from my post. Perhaps I simply need a quick lesson in pyramid mapping. Shouldn’t the goal be at the pinnacle, supported by the others?
I agree with Alessandro in that it can be applied to photography. As Andy & Andreas discuss, maybe we can debate which way the pyramid should be pointing but without the ‘delight’ they’ll be little interest in the information or persuasion.. http://www.tnrcommunications.co.uk/blog/2010/12/15/877/
Either way, Chimero is an interesting guy & thanks to APE for pointing me towards him.
