Glad to see this in here. Just landed in NYC last night to attends Jay’s memorial.
Jay was a jewel in the photo industry and the kind of photo editor that don’t come around too often. He was a sweet n kind soul who treated young n established photographers with the same respect n dedication. There was not ego or arrogance. Jay was love n inspiration truly an angel. Jay we all love u n miss u terribly
Jay and I never met, but traded emails a few years back.
I knew his reputation as a photo editor who offered his colleagues respect along with his vast editing knowledge.
I was just one of thousands that appreciated the quality of work he produced as a photographer.
The wonderful legacy that he leaves with his friendships and his mentoring is all that any editor can hope for.
The world of photojournalism has lost a piece of enrichment with his passing.
