After shooting for years for a beauty trade mag that did this in just about every issue, I have a love hate relationship with nail polish pours and crumpled eye shadow.
Is this more the work of the stylist than the photographer? Seems like this is the result of a truly talented stylist. The photographer just has to light a flat image while the art director chooses the layout, color composition, and the props for the shoot.
some photographers are hired to push a button on a camera, but others are hired to direct the shoot. the latter is probably the case here.
