  1. Not having seen the full issue it is interesting that three of the five photos in the three spreads featured here use the same basic pose: a single arm cocked up and her hand behind the model’s head.

Is this because it shows off the model’s figure and hence the swimsuit to better advantage? Or is it one of the photographer’s “go to” reliable poses, or an editorial or design decision?

    • Ha. Good catch… definitely noticeable throughout the images. Though I do love the use of color here, I cant say I am really compelled or inspired by the images. If the images weren’t full of gorgeous women and dangerous animals, would the composition and lighting be enough to land it the magazine spot it has?

      • That’s why you hire a photographer who knows how to work with dangerous animals and gorgeous women.

        • Fair enough.. Definitely handled that well. Would be interesting to see some BTS stuff with animal trainers, and juggling all of those variables/extras.

Rob, I fixed it for you.

  2. Models, check.

    Big cats, check.

    African savanna, check.

Maybe robots concepted this feature with an algorithm based on Pinterest trends.

  3. I can’t wait for the Pieter Hugo Hyena swimsuit calendar.

  4. FYI – The Swimsuit issue is photo edited by M.J. Day and Darcie Baum.

  5. Honestly, no matter how hot you might look in a two piece, with preferred arm gesture, has anyone successfully held on to the tail of any cat?
Surely you all are distracted. . .

  6. @Scott clearly that is a stunt tail. ;)

Swimsuit photos are the only ones where folks make liberal use of the gold side of the reflector.
