The Sidney Hillman Awards honor journalism that explores issues related to social justice and progressive public policy. The 2009 prizes are given for work produced, published or exhibited in 2008. Winners will be announced in May 2009 and will be published in the New York Times. Winners are awarded a $5,000 prize and a plaque.
