I thought it might be interesting if I created a place where people could submit a story or their website or a photograph and let their peers vote and add a comment. I’m calling it photo rank and it’s in the sidebar and (here).
I was looking for a program that would allow people to submit portfolios to me on this blog and came across this free software called pligg. I can’t believe how many features it has and I have no idea if it will prove useful or just more of a time suck. I loaded all the photographers I’ve written about to get things started. See what you think.

Nice! I’m off to a shoot for the rest of the day, but I will definitely post some images tomorrow.

Posted 14 Nov 2007 at 2:09 pm ¶Great idea! I look forward to looking through everything. Who knows…I may even learn something.
Posted 14 Nov 2007 at 2:14 pm ¶Seems to work - you’re going to be inundated!
Posted 14 Nov 2007 at 2:16 pm ¶Hell yeah, my “still-in-college-and-don’t-know-anything-yet” ass is in as well,
Just be gentle with me ok? I may require a hug before insertion of the “I know they’re coming” critiques.
Posted 14 Nov 2007 at 2:19 pm ¶Hmmm.. That’s my name on the same list as Antonin Kratochvil, Kurt Markus, Chris Buck… Was that really supposed to happen?
Well, I’m happy to be the Guinea Pig.
Posted 14 Nov 2007 at 2:20 pm ¶Like a Flickr for pros? It will be interesting whether the discussions will end up different from the kinds of photo discussions that are already so prevalent on the many sites where people can comment…
Posted 14 Nov 2007 at 2:22 pm ¶I’m digg’in’ it.
Posted 14 Nov 2007 at 2:55 pm ¶I’ve been reading the blog for a while now and find both the post and comments to be a refreshing look on the inner workings of photographers and editors. The Photo Rank section could a really cool opportunity to extend that conversation, so count me in.
Posted 14 Nov 2007 at 3:14 pm ¶I’m in, but really hoping that the level of discourse is similar to the comments here. These things can sometimes devolve to name calling hate centers. I love the concept though, so I am in and ready. This could be very cool.
Posted 14 Nov 2007 at 3:35 pm ¶no link?
Posted 14 Nov 2007 at 4:31 pm ¶oops, disregard pervious previous comment. thank you.
Posted 14 Nov 2007 at 4:32 pm ¶Excellent idea! I’m looking forward to seeing some new work from the many readers of this blog. Hopefully we can all be big kids and get along. I’ll be posting soon.

Posted 14 Nov 2007 at 5:26 pm ¶pligg looks a little confusing, but seems to have a lot of thoughtful features.
I wish there was one main task that was more prominent than the others, like the voting functionality. it seems to have a lot of things to click on and you could wander around for quite a bit.
yeah I agree to many clickables. may need to just tweak the colors so they don’t all appear clickable.
Posted 14 Nov 2007 at 5:35 pm ¶Nice! Yes, it is somewhat confusing but I seem to be up there. I guess you want the usual 10% ?
Posted 14 Nov 2007 at 6:12 pm ¶you are my hero, this is the best photo blog ever.
